                                                                Frank Reno

Franklin "Frank" Reno was born June 27, 1837 in Rockford, Jackson County, Indiana.  Frank's parents were Wilkison Reno and Julia Freyhafer.

Frank was the elder brother of the Reno brothers of old Reno Gang fame.

On December 31, 1859 a marriage bond was issued for Frank Reno and Adaline Reed.  This bond was never returned and it is believed that the two never married.  The 1860 Census shows that Frank and Adaline were in the same household and Frank's occupation was listed as a whiskey seller.

Frank was mustered into the Union Army on April 24, 1861 and served with Company H, 6th Regiment, Jackson County Volunteers.  Frank was mustered out of the Army on August 2, 1861.

Frank married Sarah Ford, whose father was a member of the Indiana State Legislature.  Sarah's grandfather was Captain Lemuel Ford, Warden of the Indiana State Prison in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  Frank and Sarah had one child, Appelina Reno (b. 1866 - d. 1948).

Frank was lynched by members of the Southern Indiana Vigilance Committee on December 12, 1868 inside of the New Albany, Indiana jail.

Frank is buried at the Seymour Indiana Cemetary.
